Notice of Race
About the CSA 2010 Notice of Race

The Cleveland Sailing Association (CSA), was developed to increase interest in sailboat racing in the Greater Cleveland Area.  We do so by scoring our sponsor club’s regattas in series format.

This gives you, the racing skipper, a chance to travel to other clubs and sail in many races while enjoying the hospitality and camaraderie of different venues and fleets, with an eye to rewarding your sailing skills over an extended period of time.

CSA entrants are granted free dockage (Wednesday to Wednesday) at host regattas.

Rules
A. Scoring for series shall be according to the current Racing Rules of Sailing (RRS), the prescriptions of US Sailing, and this Notice of Race (NOR) and any amendments thereto.
  B. RRS rule A2 is changed to allow discards as detailed section G, H and L of “Scoring” below.

Scoring
A. One Race constitutes a series. Series dates, events and counters are attached as part of this NOR.
  B. A race will be scored if one or more yachts participate in a scheduled event.
  C. All racing will be scored using the low point system.
  D. Individual scoring will start the day of receipt of your completed CSA Registration.
  E. All racing will be scored using the corrected finish times from the individual event results.
  F. Boats registering for a series after that series has begun (see attached 2010 Series Schedule), will be scored DNC for all races sailed on dates previous to registration. This changes RRS rules A4.2 and A9.
  G. The 2010 BOTY Championship Series includes up to 18 races. The City Series includes up to 9 races. Both series will be scored as follows: 12 of 18 or 17, 11 of 16, 10 of 15 or 14, 9 of 13, 8 of 12 or 11, 7 of 10 or 9 or 8. If less than 8 races are scored, there shall be no throw-outs. This changes RRS rule A2.
  H. The Women’s & Double Handed Series will be scored as follows: 5 of 7 or 6 and 4 of 5. If fewer than five races are scored in either series, there will be no throw-outs. This changes RRS rule A2.
I All CSA classes within a fleet must sail the same course and distance for a race to be scored for the overall (fleet) standings. However, class results will be scored, for CSA if all boats in that class sail the same course and distance in that race.
  J. Penalty Points: DNC: # of CSA boats that Started + 3. This changes RRS rules A4.2 & A9.
  K. The number of races posted on the CSA 2010 Series Schedule limits the number of counting races for a scheduled event. If less than the posted number of races is sailed on any day, CSA will count up to the limited number of races for that event by counting first the races completed on the scheduled date, then the races completed on the next scheduled date for that event.
  L. The South Shore Cruising series will count a yacht’s best 3 scores.
